TEDxOrlando 2012 was held Saturday, October 13th at the beautiful, historic Garden Theatre in Winter Garden, Florida. Three hundred attendees had the opportunity to experience diverse, thought-provoking talks; meet and mingle during breaks; and participate in an installation of Candy Chang’s “Before I Die” public art project. It was a wonderful opportunity for the Orlando community to gather and share the excitement of big ideas worth spreading, and to celebrate technology, entertainment, and design in Central Florida.
IDEAS co-founder Chris Castro was one of the 10 speakers who spoke at the annual TEDxOrlando event. His talk was entitled, “IDEAS For Biomimicry”
Talk description: To solve global challenges, we must strategically mobilize and transform communities through effective action and substantive change. This talk explores how organizations can take inspiration from biological concepts found in nature and evolve to become living organisms that have the ability to replicate, thrive, and catalyze positive change around the world.
What is TEDx?
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.
