On Friday October 19, 2012, over one thousand people – educators, professionals, students, and other community members – converged on Dreyfoos School of the Arts to attend 2012 Learn Green: Florida’s Green Schools Conference.
The day was rife with workshop sessions covering various topics in curriculum integration, sustainable facilities design and management, community partnerships, school grounds enhancement, innovative programs and practices, school sustainability, and Healthy Kids, Healthy Communities programs. A tour of the school gardens at Lake Worth Middle and Forest Hill Elementary was also offered. The keynote speaker Nona Evans, Executive Director of the Whole Kids Foundation, discussed the connection between food and public education, prompting school districts to surround students with sustainable, healthy choices.
