Over the weekend (June 25th, 2011), IDEAS chapters participated in 3rd annual ‘Hands Across the Sand‘ events in Miami, Cocoa Beach and New Jersey! We joined hands across our nearest shore and helped to say NO to offshore drilling and YES to clean energy!

In Miami, both FIU and Coral Reef HS chapters participated in the event on South Beach, in partnership with Urban Paradise Guild, Environmental Florida, Oceana, Sierra Club, and more! Check out these incredible pictures from Parasailer, Alissa Christine.

Meanwhile, the UCF and Seminole State (SSC FL) chapters joined forces with Surfrider Foundation to host the Cocoa Beach HANDS event at Lori Wilson Park! Check out these incredible pictures from local activist, ‘Shoretip Cunyo.’

Finally,  at the very same time, UCF Chapter Executive — Tina Bechtold — pulls together a last minute HANDS in her hometown of New Jersey! In partnership with Surfrider Foundation NJ chapter, Tina round a number of people to take a stand against Offshore Drilling and promoting a Clean Energy Future!

Check out the article printed in the EXAMINER throughout the Northeast!

A special thanks to all SURFRIDER FOUNDATIONS throughout the states for your efforts in coordinating this wonderful event along with us.
